Hello all who view this blog.  I completed my niece Kimberly's quilt It is named "DANCING AROUND MY LIFE" .   All of the blocks and the woman are made from the clothes that are displayed under "Once Upon a time on a Clothesline".

I started this quilt in the winter of 2013.  My neice Kimberly is an accomplished pottery designer.
She has her own studio in Cape Cod, Mass.  called "The Barn".  While she was spinning her wheel this winter I was creating these Mandala's.  In a sense we where spinning in the same direction.
The background on this quilt also holds dear meaning to my family.  My sister Barbara Vazan passed away 1 1/2 years ago.   She was a master quilter.  This background fabric was from Barbara's stash.  It also rest on the back of one of Barbara's masterpiece quilts named "Red Star" a New York Beauty pattern quilt.
"
So everyone here is the quilt  "DANCING AROUND MY LIFE"

The block to the right side of the quilt hanging by itself.  Was a block I made but could not fit it in the quilt.  So I decided to make a small wall hanging out of it.  I named this block "Just Playing"
because it is exactly what I was doing.   All the blocks are my own design accept for the intricate
pink and yellow block.  This is the only block made from a pattern from the book Magnificent Spirals Mandala quilts written by RaNae Merrill.  This block gave me courage to try new designs of my own.
The Brown and white block on the bottom left was a test of my abilities.   I love how the swirls came out.

The four people dancing in the middle of this block was on a shirt that belong to Kim's son Caton.

The eye lashes on the woman was on a shirt that belonged to Caton.  Sorry the following photo is on its side.  The crown on her head was a sequenced skirt that belonged to Kim's daughter Pheobe.

This is a close up of the quilt block "Just Playing".   I will be giving this to Pheobe because the pink velour was a dress of hers.

The following is a wallhanging that I made from clothing that I could not fit into my design.  I decided to give this one to Caton.  The block in the middle was Caton's sweatshirt.  Abenaqui is golf course where  Caton's grandfather is the Professional Golf Pro.   The University of New Hampshire shirt belonged to Kim.

So I hope you enjoyed my presentation of "Dancing Around My Life".  I love what I create in honor of you.
